Build the life you want
Therapy for everyone.
Pay what you can.
I believe that if we’re a good fit for therapy, we should work together, regardless of whether you can pay the suggested fees below.
I accept OHP insurance.
Individuals
50 minutes, $190
Are you ready to reconnect with spontaneity, joy, and belonging while letting old patterns go? I have training in mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and parts work, a technique that allows you to accept and care for the many parts that comprise you. As a therapist, I see my role as both a witness and a facilitator. With space and curiosity to explore your experience, we can expand your life’s narrative and let go of pernicious patterns.
Couples
50 minutes, $210
I believe that strong relationships are fundamental to happiness and satisfaction. You have the ability to build and maintain intimacy and you can improve your skills with practice (I give homework!). Good therapy helps you understand what you and your partner are feeling and respond appropriately. I have training in emotionally focused therapy, a technique that hones couples’ attachment skills and communication. I am a kink, poly, and queer friendly therapist.
Families
50 minutes, $210
Conflict at home is incredibly common and, unfortunately, uncommonly addressed. I practice systemic therapy, which means that I focus on how multiple relationships interact within the same family. As a former middle and high school teacher, I have ample skills in engaging children and adults alike to explore feelings, communicate compassionately, and practice new behaviors. We might even have fun.
I offer virtual sessions and in-person counseling at 28th and E Burnside in PDX
My approach
Setting yourself apart
Throughout our lives, we learn behaviors to cope and feel safe. Perhaps a part of you became a perfectionist to protect a part that fears rejection. Over time, patterns like this can become entrenched, inhibiting our growth and even causing the very pain they were meant to prevent. I can help you identify these patterns and the parts of yourself they protect. Through the curiosity and compassion intrinsic to your Self, we can loosen their grip and even befriend them.
Experiential acceptance
Emotions are like visitors - they come and go, but they also signal what’s important for us to notice. Accepting emotions - yours and others - promotes healing and connection. Easier said than done! I use techniques that help individuals and couples slow down, sit with feelings, and gain language to better understand/communicate them. This can involve guided mindfulness and visualization to help you focus on feelings, find their origins, and take care of the parts of yourself from which they originate. I also offer EMDR, a research-backed, experiential technique that helps reduce distress associated with painful memories.
Practice makes better
So you had a powerful insight during therapy. Now what? Celebrate then integrate! I believe that it takes practice to really create lasting change. After all, we’re undoing patterns that you may have had for most of your life. I will often assign simple homework assignments to further the growth you experience during sessions and provide us more data to work with in future sessions.
